Suffering from Low Back Pain?Home"Hi. I'm Peter Chirico with Chirico Physical Therapy and Wellness, and today, we're going to go over the best treatment for low back pain. This is essentially if you're struggling with low back pain or you failed previous treatment approaches and your pain keeps coming back. The most important thing in this is to solve the root cause of the problem or the pain, and not to chase the effect, but chase the cause.
A good example of this is if you have a fire in your house and the fire alarm goes off, the first thing you do is get up and go room to room, looking for the fire, put it out, and then go back afterwards and turn off the fire alarm. You wouldn't do it in the reverse order. You wouldn't turn off the fire alarm and then look for the fire. Well, the body is the same way. When we feel pain, that's your body's fire alarm, and it's up to us to solve the real cause of that because that's the most important thing. If we can solve the real cause of that problem and then resolve it, the pain will go away and not reoccur or come back. Okay, so let's go over the different causes of low back pain. The first one is muscular, and that's usually in the area near the spine. It can be on either side or both sides, and that could take anywhere from two to four weeks to heal. The next one is ligamentous, and it's in the same areas, but it does take longer to heal, and that can be anywhere from two to four months in duration to heal. The next one is a contusion that can occur from a fall, or athletic or sporting injury. Again, that can take anywhere from two to four months to heal, depending on the person. After that, you got spondylosis, which is very common, and that's arthritic, osteoarthritic condition of the lumbar spine, and then after that, you got degenerative joint disease, degenerative disc disease. There's bulging disc. There's herniated disc. There's piriformis syndrome. There is lumbar radiculopathy that can occur and radiate pain down into the lower extremities or numbness. There's spondylolisthesis, which is not that common, but people do have it. I have it. I have a grade one. It varies in grades, but it does occur, and then there's spinal stenosis, and that's a narrowing of the spinal canal condition. Those are the conditions, different types of low back pain that you can have. So, if you're suffering from low back pain, the best thing to do is to solve the root cause of the problem. As you can see, there are many different types of low back pain, and the best way to treat it is to treat the real cause of what's going on because not all low back pain is the same. Unfortunately, many people today going to a standard clinic where they get standard care, and they have missed the cause, and they chase the effect, and that's where people fail.
